Key Features
Tap the power of tapeless workflows
Save time with industry-leading native tapeless workflows, which eliminate transcoding and rewrapping, while preserving the pristine quality of your footage. Capture and log footage from virtually any camera — including tapeless cameras — with Adobe OnLocation™ CS5.

Take advantage of direct-to-disk recording and monitoring with Adobe OnLocation CS5, which offers powerful support for metadata that can smooth your workflow throughout the complete post-production process.

Work better with other NLEs
Import and export Apple Final Cut Pro and Avid projects in Adobe Premiere Pro so you can explore new possibilities with After Effects®, Photoshop®, and other Adobe software, bringing timesaving integration between Adobe tools to projects created in these other NLEs.

Apply the power of Adobe Photoshop®, After Effects®, and other Adobe creative applications to your Final Cut and Avid projects more efficiently by bringing them into Adobe Premiere Pro, and then leveraging the tight integration between Adobe's creative tools.

Move faster from script to screen
Move from script to screen faster with Adobe Story, a new Adobe CS Live online service* that integrates with Adobe Premiere Pro. Import scripts from Adobe Story to create shot lists, align scripts to footage and produce rough cuts, and then optimize video to create engaging online experiences. CS Live services are complimentary for a limited time.

Use Adobe Encore® to deliver web DVDs complete with chapter menus and search capabilities thanks to metadata added throughout the post-production process in Adobe Premiere Pro. Or render video into web video formats with Adobe Media Encoder, and use the metadata-rich assets in an interactive online player for more engaging web experiences.

Faster workflow through integration with Adobe Story
Use Adobe Story for convenient collaboration on script development. In Adobe OnLocation™, import Adobe Story scripts and production notes to create complete shot lists, help manage your shoot, and streamline logging. Adobe OnLocation, Adobe Premiere Pro, and Adobe Encore® retain all XMP metadata from the script, including dialogue, characters, and more. In Adobe Premiere Pro, import media directly from an Adobe OnLocation project, including any in or out points you set while logging. Using the script dialogue embedded in those shots, align the script to the spoken dialogue so you can assemble your story. Include script dialogue and other metadata in your completed movies to make them engaging for online audiences.

Engaging online experiences from previously recorded footage
Use the metadata-rich workflow throughout Adobe Story, Adobe OnLocation, Adobe Premiere Pro, and Encore to turn completed or unscripted video assets into engaging online experiences. This is especially useful for content such as documentaries, corporate productions, training assets, interviews, and live events.

Faster editing with metadata
Turn spoken dialogue into searchable text-based metadata faster and more accurately. Synchronize footage with scripts imported from Adobe Story, and accelerate editing by marking in and out points in the speech analysis text. Use face detection technology to quickly locate clips containing human faces.

Batch encoding with Adobe Media Encoder
Work more efficiently when transcoding files for use in Encore CS5. Adobe Media Encoder, a separate 64-bit application, transcodes files in the background, keeping Encore available for your other authoring tasks. This separation of encoding is particularly important with 4K workflows, which benefit from large amounts of memory to process multiple high-resolution frames

Direct-to-disk recording and on-set monitoring
Manage your shoot more efficiently with Adobe OnLocation CS5, included with Adobe Premiere Pro. Record directly to disk and maximize camera image quality. Organize shots using metadata imported from Adobe Story and logged during the shoot: Shot lists are automatically generated, logging is expedited, and dialogue and other metadata from the script is embedded in the assets you log or capture.

Easier rough cut production in Adobe Premiere Pro
Enable a smoother handoff from production to post-production. Use the logging features in Adobe OnLocation to identify good shots and set their in/out points. Then send this information to post-production using a new Adobe OnLocation project that includes information on good clips, shot order, and in/out points, automatically creating the starting point for the rough cut.

Searchable web DVD creation from Adobe Encore CS5
Create more engaging web DVDs that automatically include a search interface, making it easier for viewers to find content. Metadata created throughout production makes your web DVDs searchable and makes it easier for viewers to discover your site.

Professional Blu-ray Disc and DVD authoring
Produce high-quality Blu-ray Disc and DVD titles using Encore CS5, included with Adobe Premiere Pro CS5. Create a compelling viewer experience with interactive menus and slide shows, and help ensure disc quality with integrated transcoding of your content. For Blu-ray Disc media, incorporate advanced features such as pop-up menus and subtitles, as well as dual-layer burning.

Improved Dynamic Link performance
Use Adobe Dynamic Link to open Adobe Premiere Pro sequences directly in Encore without rendering and deliver your work quickly to DVD, Blu-ray Disc, and the web. Optimizations in CS5 improve Dynamic Link performance significantly, providing real-time playback with more complex sequences
