Bolton firm marks 40th birthday by doubling sales A Bolton-based family business with nationwide operations is celebrating its 40th anniversary after doubling turnover and headcount. Barry Bennett Ltd, which specialises in workplace assistive technology and ergonomic solutions, has boosted revenue from £5m in 2006 to almost £11m in the current year. Staff numbers have increased from 40 to 85 in the same period. The business, headquartered in Viking Street, Bolton, is returning to its roots with a significant investment programme in its office supplies division. This has involved the recruitment of office supplies account manager Lisa McCarrick from PC World, where she was a business development specialist, as well as the launch of two rebranded websites for domestic and commercial customers. Owner and managing director Antony Bennett, whose father founded the business, commented: “In our fortieth year it’s entirely fitting that we should reinvest in the office supplies sector, which was our core business when we started trading in 1971. “We set ourselves apart in a competitive marketplace because we are a one-stop shop that supplies not just stationery, but everything you need to operate a building, including catering, cleaning and facilities management products.” In addition, Barry Bennett’s expertise in the design of ergonomic office furniture means the business can offer comprehensive workplace solutions for individual needs. “We have demonstrated that we have the right people and the right products to generate strong growth during what has been a very tough period and I am confident that we will continue to develop as the recovery gets under way,” added Antony. |
