Rather than sending Christmas gifts & cards this year, we have decided to make a donation to charity.
During 2017 we have made a concerted effort to increase our charitable donations through tuck boxes, football cards, raffles and sponsored walks.
These initiatives have been led by a member of the Barry Bennett NMH team, Emma Woodall. Emma is passionate about charity work and so far this year we have raised £1,227 which has been donated to several charities including:
The Lullaby trust
The Alzheimers society
Veterans for wildlife
Bolton destitute animal sanctuary
Bodhi animal sanctuary
Last Christmas Emma collected a transit van full of food, water, toiletries, sleeping bags, warm clothes and wrapped gifts etc. and donated to local homeless shelters. As you can imagine, this was an experience which she found very emotional indeed.
With Emma's experiences in mind, and with Christmas being a very lonely and challenging time for vulnerable / homeless individuals, the charity which we have chosen to donate to this Christmas is the Manchester Cornerstone Centre for vulnerable and disadvantaged adults. Emma has visited the centre and met Sister Lucy, the Centre Manager, and has seen first-hand the amazing work that she and her team do to help vulnerable individuals who need it the most.

Below is the response from Manchester Cornerstone
Emma, we have just received word from Headquarters to say that the money for Cornerstone is on it’s way to the Bank.
You truly are a great supporter and you can imagine just how delighted we all were to hear the good news, you are exceedingly generous in donating £2000.00 and we are truly grateful, please convey our heartfelt thanks to your Managing Director and assure him that this money will be used wisely for Cornerstone and the people coming here.
Emma, God Bless and Reward you for thinking of us, we honestly appreciate that and are grateful to you. This comes with every good wish for a truly Happy and Holy Christmas and New Year.
You take care.
Sincerely in Christ.
That is fantastic news and thank you ever so much to yourself, managing director and all other colleagues at your company. Your generous gift will help those, most in need, who access our fantastic service at Cornerstone to get the help and support they need, especially at this time of the year. I’ve passed on the news of your donation to our team at Cornerstone and I’m sure Sister Lucy will be in touch to personally thank you and your team.
Thank You again and, on behalf of all at Cornerstone and Caritas Diocese of Salford, here’s wishing you and your families a peaceful Christmas and a very happy New Year!
