Overview
ClaroRead has been developed to help PC users of all capabilities
create, read, view, check and scan text.
Available in Standard and PLUS versions, the software is
closely integrated with Microsoft™ applications - with
particular emphasis on Word® and Internet Explorer.
ClaroRead incorporates the world-leading RealSpeak™ Solo
text-to-speech voices, to provide high-quality read back
of virtually anything on your PC screen. Additional add-on
voices available in 17 languages.
You can have text spoken back and highlighted from anywhere
within Microsoft Word - just click and play. To have text
spoken from any other program on your PC just select the
text with your mouse. It will speak back immediately

Font and Spacing Change for easier Reading
in Word
When working in Microsoft Word, ClaroRead’s Font Button
allows you to modify the font size, type, and colour of the
whole document very easily.You can:
- Increase or decrease the font size.
- Change the font to one of 3 popular
fonts with one click.
- Change the colour of the text of a whole
document.
- Change the background colour of your
PC easily
Spacing
Text character, line and paragraph spacing using Microsoft
Word menus requires some detailed knowledge. ClaroRead makes
it simple to space out text. Pressing the Spacing Button
when working in Word will help you:
- Expand spacing.
- Change line spacing.
- Changes the number of points (spaces)
after the end of each paragraph
Word Prediction
ClaroRead contains a word prediction feature, which can be
useful for certain computer users. ClaroRead uses a base
prediction dictionary consisting of the most frequently used
words in the English language.
The Prediction List will automatically appear by your cursor
during typing. It only appears when it is attempting a prediction.
There are also a number of word Prediction Settings that
will modify the prediction towards the typical content of
your writing. It learns as you type.

A right click of the mouse will float the prediction window,
allowing you to place it anywhere on screen
Homophones - Helping Choose the word
Homophones are words that are pronounced alike even if they
differ in spelling or meaning, such as “pair” and “pear”.
ClaroRead Homophone features will:
- Mark all the homophones in a document.
- The Check Feature will list alternative
words that sound the same, along with the meaning of
each word.
- Mark homophones in colour as you type
- NEW in 2.5 - One thousand picture icons
added for homophones to help descrie meaning, helping
with understanding.
Check - a single button press
ClaroRead provides a single Check Button for use in Microsoft
Word that combines a homophone dictionary, thesaurus and
spellchecker, making the checking of your text and documents
easier and more comprehensive.
- If a word is a homophone the Homophone
Check Box will appear, along with meanings.
- If the word has alternative words with
the same or similar meaning, the Meaning Check Box
will appear.
- You can SpellCheck individual words
or the whole of your document at any point.
- NEW in 2.5 - Over 1000 picture icons
to help with word meaning.
Scan2Text direct into Word (ClaroRead PLUS
only)
ClaroRead PLUS contains Scan2Text, which uses powerful OmniPage
optical character recognition technology to convert documents
into Microsoft Word text, which can then be read back immediately
by ClaroRead.
To scan and convert a paper document or PDF image into text
from within Microsoft Word, click the Scan Button. Read documents
back using the speech features of ClaroRead. Edit, cut and
paste the text to produce new documents.
This feature works using all scanners with TWAIN or WIA compatible
scanners.
Talking Calculator
ClaroRead adds a voice to the Windows Calculator. Enter the
sum with the numeric keyboard and the figures will be echoed
back to you.
The buttons on a standard and scientific calculator can also
be spoken, providing the speech settings are enabled. In
addition, figures from Microsoft Excel can be spoken when
using the cursor keys to move around. |

You can even generate audio files of complete documents or
articles. Listen to them later on your portable audio player
or playback on your PC.
And you can choose from over 15 Realspeak voices and languages

spelling and grammar checkers, documents were often proofread

Scan2Text
is an easy to use, quality tool for publishing and for
easy access to printed text using almost any standard scanner.
You can convert text on paper from your scanner, or convert
PDF files and other text contained in image files such
as .tif format.
With Scan2Text you scan documents, letters and papers, and
the text is dropped straight into Microsoft Word. Scan2Text
is operated from within Microsoft Word, by adding just 3
extra menu items to the Word File Menu.
The text can then be edited, or readback by a screenreader
or WordRead. You can choose to retain the original format
of the document and retain or remove images.
You can also open previously scanned image files, as well
as open PDFs!
This powerful software contains the latest Omnipage engine
and can automatically recognise and convert text in over

ScreenRuler is a strip magnifier
which allows part of the PC screen to be highlighted and
magnified in a horizontal band.
It will assist anyone with viewing and concentrating on text
or objects. It provides a "strip" or "ruler" across
the screen, which can be magnified, can have the contrast changed
and have the background "greyed" or "dimmed" out.
The cursor colour can also be changed easily. ScreenRuler will
work with any piece of software, as it acts as an "overlay" on
the PC screen. From a technical point of view, it should not
interfere or clash with your PC video card. |
