Location: London
Full time: Full time, 37 hours per week Monday - Friday
Salary: £24,720, plus benefits
Contract: Temporary 12-Month Contract

Barry Bennett are one of the largest suppliers of assistive technology to students in receipt of DSA (Disabled Students’ Allowance) in the UK. We provide installation, familiarisation, training and aftercare to students who have been recommended assistive technology and specialist ergonomic furniture, following an assessment of study needs. Our sister company, Bennett Workplace Solutions, also provides a one-stop service for organisations requiring workplace adjustments for their employees. This role will have a dual requirement to for both for our DSA students and corporate clients.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our nationwide team of Assistive Technology Trainers and Ergonomic/Technical Assessors in a varied and rewarding role. We require candidates with a professional, friendly and approachable manner, in line with our core company values, with a willingness to learn new skills and integrate into our growing BB team.

Main Responsibilities
  • Reporting directly to our Training & Assessment Team Supervisors, you will provide specialist ergonomic and technical assessments in the homes and workplaces of our customers (some assessments may be carried out remotely where requested)
  • Completing written reports from all assessments using our online platform, detailing justifications / recommendations
  • Providing specialist training on our wide range of assistive technology applications, from literacy support tools to speech recognition, including specialist training on software/hardware for visual and hearing impairment (full training to be provided)
  • You will deliver and install specialist equipment/furniture in the homes and workplaces of our clients, providing detailed familiarisation, supporting the individual to make best possible use of the recommended equipment
  • A willingness to travel outside of the usual working hours / designated area to undertake customer appointments where necessary as part of the role
  • Communicating professionally with our customers on a daily basis, updating them on arrival times and any delays where necessary
  • Undertaking aftercare / fault finding where necessary, using skills learned during onboarding to solve problems onsite
  • Collections and returns to head office via a designated local storage depot (locations outside of Bolton head office)
  • Occasional overnight stays to undertake ad-hoc work and attend training events as the company requires
  • Working in an organised and methodical manner, reporting any issues promptly to our scheduling teams and supervisors
Requirements:
The successful applicant will possess the following qualities
  • Degree level qualification with relevance to the role preferred (not essential) e.g. ergonomics, sports science, disability studies
  • Demonstrate relevant industry experience
  • A good standard of general IT and problem solving skills
  • A desire to continually learn new skills in the field of ergonomics and assistive technology
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Patient, friendly, and professional manner with customers
  • Proactive approach to resolving issues to customer satisfaction
  • Comfortable working under pressure
Further Information:
Extensive ongoing training will be provided across multiple technologies and disability types, working towards accreditation on the various AT packages.

  • You must be eligible to work in the UK
  • You must have a full driving license
  • This role will be subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS check and the last 3 years referencing
